Metro Roofing Newsletter — Issue 11

Issue eleven is devoted to the buildings we are proudest of: churches. Minnesota's skyline is punctuated by steeples, and keeping them dry, straight and beautiful is a craft our crews have honed across decades and denominations.

Why steeples are different: height multiplies wind load, slender geometry concentrates snow and ice, and historic structures hide surprises under every layer. A steeple re-roof is engineering, rigging and reverence in equal parts. We stage carefully, crane panels to the hour, and protect the sanctuary below as if the service were happening over our heads, because it usually is.

Recent projects include a limestone landmark whose copper steeple we re-dressed in standing seam after decades of patches, and a rural congregation where the entire town seemed to gather for the crane day, someone sold popcorn, and we are not above admitting we bought some.

If your congregation is staring at a steeple budget with dread, start with a documented inspection and a phased plan. Sacred buildings deserve decades-long thinking, and we are glad to climb up and give you the honest view from up there.
